alternative pathways were/are feasible for this transmission line. Cambodia’s few remaining protected forests are home to hardwood species that fetch a high market value. This project gives access to harvest that wood.

Mongabay was featured in @France24_en's documentary on #Cambodia's carbon credits, digging into REDD+ projects' failure to prevent illegal logging. Activists Ouch Leng & Tat Oudom were also featured & were detained 1 day later. Both still detained now.

Dear all my Cambodians, you are urged to unite against injustice and reclaim our rights as citizens of their our land. Only through collective action can the people’s power be restored. Let us ask ourselves, with courage and dignity: *What can we do?*

Biden should go all out on climate for the next 75 days.
Declare a climate emergency. Get all the IRA money out the door. Permit new transmission lines. Stop new LNG exports. Ban drilling on public lands.
Make a mountain of progress for Trump to try and undo.
Whilst dealing with this drug driver on the A3 at Wisley, another driver decided to video us on his phone whilst driving. He was stopped as well, he then also provided a positive @DrugWipeUK!! You can't make this up! #2for1#Fatal5#Stupidity
Presidents do not have to be saints, and we hope that a second term for Donald Trump would avoid disaster. But he poses an unacceptable risk to America and the world. If The Economist had a vote, we would cast it for Kamala Harris https://t.co/IPE9qsnp9D
What is the scale of Pakistan's solar boom in 2024?
Huge, but huge uncertainty...
17GW: panels imported from China Jan-Sep 2024
10-15GW: BNEF estimate for Cal-2024 solar installed
3.2GW: official gov solar net metering est at Sep-2024
(all from report here)
(also not yet clear to me how much installed in 2023)
On the call yesterday, installed solar was estimated as 14GW now. I suspect higher, but let's go with that.
Some rough calcs by me...
- 14GW would be almost 50% of peak demand based on 18GW average grid demand across last year. But demand is highly variable through the year: 18GW on average, but summer peak demand 29GW, 12GW in winter, 8GW minimum shoulder load. So oversupply getting real in the shoulder months.
- 14GW would be 24% of total generation capacity - based on grid generation capacity of 45GW
- 14GW = of 14% of Pakistan's annual electricity demand, assuming 13% utilisation means it would supply.

National traitors must be wiped out.” This kind of language should be strongly criticised. The student groups are now becoming part of the the problem, rather than part of the solution. Very depressing. They are banding around the term "facistic" to describe and delegitimise many different political grouping - and it is beginning to be be used by them in the same way that Awami League used the term "Anti-Liberation" or indeed "Razaker" as a way of closing down a conversation and totally de-legitimising political organisations. https://t.co/HJhhY4CbDZ
