I will be signing copies of my book, Gord Atkinson: Ottawa’s Oldest Teenager, at Coles in Carlingwood tomorrow, Saturday, June 10, from 11am to 1pm. A good Father’s Day gift for former Campus Corner/Campus Club members and those interested in rock’n’roll’s early years.
Looking for a Christmas gift? Please consider buying a copy of my book, Gord Atkinson: Ottawa’s Oldest Teenager. Read about Ottawa’s first rock concert, Elvis Presley’s performances in Ottawa, and how Ottawa was a hit-making centre during the early days of the rock ‘n’ roll era
I’m happy to announce the release of my book, Gord Atkinson: Ottawa’s Oldest Teenager (The Campus Years), which can be purchased at https://t.co/D98pCqaaqt
@bgzimmer@cmolanphy @ashwham @slateplus@bgzimmer thanks for acknowledging my father, Gord Atkinson’s, early use of the term ‘one-hit wonder’. As a popular radio DJ during the early years of rock ’n’ roll, he was on the cutting edge of the pop music culture. He passed away in April of this year.
@cmolanphy @ashwham @benzawilski @slateplus Here's the earliest example of "one-hit wonder" I've found in a musical context, a Jan. 4, 1958 Ottawa Citizen column by radio broadcaster Gord Atkinson. "Several one-hit wonders of the old year, will vanish into shellac obscurity." https://t.co/zSeY9j1tjU
Very sorry to hear of the passing of radio legend Gord Atkinson, seen here with his great friend Rich Little. Gord interviewed more stars from around the world than anyone else in Ottawa and he was a true gentleman. My condolences to Gord’s family
