Seeing Boston recaps mention cramping and ask if they should have hydrated more, taken in even more at fluid stations.
Maybe, but cramping is a natural outcome of extending yourself to the max in my experience. I could be wrong, but to me it's just a sign you're at your max.
@runphelps Sorry to hear that. Honestly I always cramp or almost cramp in Boston a friend with medical background swears by HotShot as a new solution. Could be worth trying.
@drlesko@AlaskaAir Whenever I take that flight in the winter it looks like someone baked a cake and then accidentally let their work slide off the plate. What a mess!
@BenedictWild Oh man that’s a bummer. I once lost a segment to bikers all the time and then one day lodmst it to a really fast runner and was just in shock
@BenedictWild Haha why would I know about such crass behavior! Sounds like a bunch of jerks!
Joking aside, I think Groups have a chance to make Strava more useful like Lists make Twitter useful.
@drlesko@outsidemagazine Thanks for the perspective.
I'm actually writing an essay right now about how life is better as an Old Runner because you know your body so much better than being a Young Runner. (When I trained like an idiot 😔)
@robbiedxc @drlesko@outsidemagazine Thanks Rob, but indulge me for a moment: I'm 37 and just broke 2:20 for the first time. I'm literally racing against the clock and the inevitable decline due to aging. It's thrilling and terrifying. I'll be a runner for life, no doubt, but right now it's about SPEED! 🔥
Ha! This would've made me depressed 5 yrs ago. But I'm here to tell you, it's not all about the times! Every year you get to turn the page, see what you can do. Some in their prime think you should quit when you start getting slower. But running is rewarding, just in the doing.
Sunday is 21 days to @runSRA_CIM and the @btc_elite are doing our traditional 16 mile (26k) tune up at pace.
✅ Race Day apparel
✅ Nutrition - fluids and gels
✅ Shoes
✅ Pace
Not NOT thinking about this constantly for the next 3 days!
