@TedBlades@GovNL I asked NL government. They said it was removed for safety reasons, the last one was deteriorating (it had only been up about a decade) and still evaluating what to do next

@JohnRiche One way flight are always way more expensive than round trip for Europe for cash, but not for aeroplan points (if you don’t have enough points you can buy them, right now they have bonus points so cost is lower)
Nfld Power is asking people to prepare for rolling outages. Everyone will take a turn getting power, some areas will have power turned out. Each outage would be “as short as possible”. Can’t provide advance power but aiming for <1 hour for outages
NL Hydro has a power warning for Newfoundland, asking people to conserve power to avoid rolling outages. They’re providing an update on problems with power generation in the province during some of the coldest temps of the winter.
They have divers in the water, using compressed air to break the ice loose. “It will be a multi day effort”.
Holyrood is online but only 1 of 3 generators online. Crews working to get other 2 generators working
Nordspace just tried another launch from St Lawrence and unfortunately had flames on the launch pad. Appears to be extra propellant that burned off, no larger fire and they’re examining the rocket and the pad now
Teams a gearing up to try and launch this afternoon. Likely towards the end of their launch window (so 5-7). They have a few components they need to tweak so they’ve lowered the rocket into horizontal position
The fire on the launch pad at Nordspace rocket launch was because of extra propellant (they use oxygen and kerosene) the ratio wasn’t right. It just burned itself off and the company says the rocket is safe.
Currently evaluating whether they can try again during 3-7pm today
I’m in St. Lawrence standing by for what could be the first commercial rocket launch in Canada. Tomorrow is the first good weather day they’ve had for this launch window
