Nothing having to do with nuclear technology has happened since the nuclear test ban treaty so I haven’t really written in this log much.

The Nuclear Test Ban Treaty has been signed because of the fear of nuclear annihilation now and in the future. Nobody wants to have the whole world wiped out.

The Nuclear Test Ban Treaty was signed in 1963 and now nobody is allowed to test nuclear weapons anymore. We have successfully put constraints on the destructive power of the atom bomb. This is the end of the nuclear age. #theend

Both countries are afraid of what will happen if they nuke the other. It will end up having the world absolutely destroyed. This is why we scientist think that there needs to be control.

The Soviets have successfully detonated their own atomic bomb on August 29, 1949. We have lost the upper hand in the Cold War.

The Soviets are developing their own atomic bomb because they are afraid of what the U.S. could do if they ever got too mad.

Tensions between the U.S. and USSR have been rising as now they are not allies in WW2. It is a battle between democracy and communism.

J.R. Oppenheimer has become the Chairman of the General Advisory Committee of the Atomic Energy Commission. They support the control of nuclear weapons and energy. They are also against the creation of the hydrogen bomb.

Many of us have decided to quit working on atomic bombs including J.R. Oppenheimer. The destruction that we have seen is too much. #quitting

13) We have started organizing the official surrender of Japan. Many reforms are going on led by General MacArthur. He has the final say in any matters concerning the reconstruction of Japan. It will be divided into 3 parts.

The official treaty has been signed and we have victory over Japan on August 15, 1945. The victory came at the cost of thousands of lives of innocent Japanese citizens though. #vjday

August 9, 1945, and “Fat Man” was dropped. Now Japan should surrender. We have sent more troops towards Japan. Victory over Japan will soon come.

14) There were so many deaths from just the initial explosion. The radiation will cause deaths as well over time and also mess with people's brains. The radiation poisoning will probably last for years to come.

Now that the first bomb has been dropped I am kind of feeling regrets about helping to create the bomb. Others feel the same including J.R. Oppenheimer. The destruction that we saw from the test bomb used on actual people?

The bomb has been dropped and worked as we expected. The Japanese don’t look like they plan on surrendering. They are very determined not to lose the war. We have a second bomb code named “Fat Man” using plutonium that we will drop on Nagasaki.

We have constructed the first uranium atomic bomb code named “Little Boy”and we are confident in its ability to successfully explode even though we haven’t tested this type before. It will be dropped on Hiroshima on August 3, 1945.

13) With the power of the atomic bomb the U.S. is now the most powerful country in the world. All of the weaker countries will want to be with the U.S. and democracy as opposed to the USSR and communism. The U.S. has benefitted a lot from the creation of the atomic bomb.

5:45 The bomb has been successfully exploded. There was an intense light flash, a wave of heat, an echoing sound through the valley, a ball of fire, and a mushroom cloud 40,000 feet across. The tower was absolutely vaporized and the surrounding sand was turned to glass. #success
