I’m no expert, and I know it’s a complicated issue, but the horrors in both Israel and Gaza - particularly since October 7, 2023 - have GOT to stop. The death and destruction are heartbreaking. The traumas for hostages and their families are unimaginable.

Plus, the anti-Semitism and Islamophobia that it’s all stirring up among extremist groups are inexcusable.

That’s why I’m proud to see Australia joining Britain, France and Canada in trying to “give peace a chance” today. Lots more clearly needs to be done but, just for the record, I reckon this is a positive step.

The RBA has just cut interest rates for the third time in six months.

Today’s quarter of a percentage point cut brings the cash rate to 3.60 per cent and will make a meaningful difference to millions of mortgage holders around the country.

I welcomed their participation in the New York Call on July 29.
