For some reason the odd numbered Beethoven Symphonies (1,3,5,7,9) get more move than the even. Let's fix that. We have a fine recording of #4 with Hickox and the Northern Sinfonia in just a few minutes. Tuneful but more mellow than 3 or 5, perfect for a Sunday night. Enjoy!

My parents were from Vienna so I was taught at an early age that the Vienna Phil could play any Strauss perfectly no matter who was conducting.They just ignored the stick. I doubt it.Andre Previn does a fine job with the Fledermaus Overture in a few minutes.Still...that band!

Always thought of Korngold as a film composer, or a big orchestral guy. Fine piece of chamber writing. Suite for 2 violins, cello and piano left-hand. Probably for Wittgenstein (Pianist who lost his right arm in WW1) Stellar cast too. Just a bit after 11.

Jewish sacred music isn't all that common but tonight at 9 we have the Italian Baroque composer, Salamone Rossi, and a setting of Psalm 122. Absolutely beautiful. 9 tonight.
