What a great initiative from @ThornabyFC_.
The club have announced that every resident in Thornaby-On-Tees is being offered a fully funded season ticket for the 2026/27 season - for both the men’s and women’s teams.
What’s more is that this is being done in partnership with Thornaby Town Council who are funding the season tickets.
What’s an incredible way to recognise the importance of a football club to your town and to the wellbeing of people.
This is further acknowledgement from decision makers that football plays a crucial role in place and identity. Long may the trend continue.
We are pleased to confirm the permanent signing of Joe Kennedy!
Having spent the majority of last season on loan, and winning our young player of the year award, it's fantastic to welcome back such a talented player into the fold.
Joe is available to sponsor.
Welcome back, Joe! 💙

Thornaby FC and Thornaby Town FC & Academy Announce Merger
Thornaby FC are delighted to confirm that Thornaby Town FC & Academy will merge into the club ahead of the 2026/27 season, uniting a minimum of 16 teams — from under-7s through to the over-40s — under a single Thornaby FC banner.
The merger is the result of nine months of constructive discussion between both clubs, and it centres on one shared ambition: to give every young boy and girl in Thornaby the best possible football experience, with a genuine pathway from grassroots to first team.
Lee Cox of Thornaby Town FC said the timing felt right. "After seeing the ambitions and future plans of Thornaby FC, the decision was an easy one. Creating a pathway for local children to progress and represent their local club has always been a major aim for us, and this merger makes that possible."
Teesdale Park will become a home for every player from under-7 upward. Ryan McKnight, COO of Thornaby FC, is clear on what that should mean in practice.
"We've spoken about it in all of our meetings — this is about every player knowing there is not just a path to the first team, but that they're at a club that wants to do everything to make that happen and to make their experience on that journey the best one possible."
The existing Thornaby Town FC committee will remain in place and work alongside Thornaby FC staff throughout the transition. Both clubs were keen to acknowledge the role those relationships played.
Cox added: "We would like to place on record our thanks to the committee and representatives of Thornaby FC for the warm welcome shown throughout discussions."
As a mark of what this merger means to both clubs, Thornaby FC will adopt Thornaby Town FC's red and black striped kit as the official away strip from next season.
The club will look to add further junior sides over the summer. McKnight is already looking beyond the immediate announcement. "This has to be just the start. We need to be a much more active and important stakeholder in the town, and being under this single banner makes that so much easier."
Please note: it is Thornaby Town FC & Academy that is merging into Thornaby FC. Thornaby Town Coaching is a wholly separate entity and has no association with Thornaby FC.

Everyone at Thornaby FC would like to place on record our ongoing and sincere thanks to Chief Executive Alison McGee and Managing Director John McGee for their incredible continued commitment, dedication and support towards the club over the past two years.
Since joining the club in July 2024, Alison and John have played a hugely influential role in one of the most successful periods in Thornaby FC’s recent history, helping oversee three promotions — including promotion to the FA Women's National League — as well as the women’s team lifting the County Cup for the first time in the club’s history.
Their passion, leadership and belief in the club continues to drive Thornaby FC forward both on and off the pitch, while the ongoing backing from their company, Durata, through sponsorship and support remains absolutely vital to the continued growth and success of the football club.
The commitment shown by Alison and John to everyone connected with Thornaby FC is deeply appreciated, and the club is proud to continue building for the future alongside them.

Thornaby FC are delighted to confirm that the North Riding County Senior Cup Women's Final will be held at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday 10th May 2026 at 2pm.
Over the last couple of days, the response to our campaign has been amazing. We'd like to thank every one who supported the cause.
The Women's finalists will now take to the Riverside -the same stage as the Men's final - which is exactly what this campaign called for.
We wish to emphasise that, regardless of our future involvement in the final, we maintain the desire for a public commitment that the same venue is arranged for both men and women's sides going forward.
Football gets this right when people speak up. We are proud to have done so.
