@Xenta777 I'm moving over to the friendly new place, finding all sorts of people there that were no longer visible to me here, thanks to the toxic algorithm. Amazed at how many of my rediscovered favourite people there, in so many areas of interest, are also cat-people.π»
@RageSheen The shortest cycle of all is the "24 hour news cycle", typically making An Announcement of no substance to "win the 24 hour news cycle", whilst of course, nothing real actually gets done.
@Xenta777 Happy Birthday Xenta, from our 8 cats and us. (That's our youngest, Miss Dixie Kuppe MacFishbreath, who will be having her first birthday next month)
@RageSheen Your second point (about problems being too big to solve) is explained by your first point (societies obsessed with [political] team sports, [etc]). Our leaders (the politicians and oligarchs) are ill equipped and unmotivated to deal with these problems. I blame them!
@Xenta777 Xenta, thank you so much for the services you provide: up to date news from the war; knowledge about Ukrainian life and culture; valuable advice and direct contribution to charities for the war and for the animals; and links to other good sources of knowledge and ways to support.
@RageSheen The last 30 years have been a painful object lesson in what happens when we let markets run things. Environmental destruction, wars, cartels, oligarchies, neglect of infrastructure, abandonment of ideals and values, and wholesale wealth transfer to the 1%.
@byowife I had to go for an MRI, & the fascist radiographer refused to let me wear the expensive non-metallic respi I'd bought speshully, & made me wear a crappy non-airtight baggy-blue with a useless plastic nose clip that didn't work. The machine then blows unfiltered room air on you.
@JJKALE2 Sky Au know they stand very tall indeed.
Every year they win the coveted AACTA award for best local pay TV news service, as they are the only local pay news service.
@Sandyboots2020 @guardian @Daltmann10 Due to their habit of pushing CVD minimizing and denying articles, I'm not renewing my @guardian subscription, which is due this month.
