In 2001 he won the UK’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition bringing him to global attention.  He returned to his native Dali and established the Wild China Museum, where he continues to promote interest in and care for the natural environment

Chinese wildlife photographer Xi Zhinong gave me a photo he took of the Chinese snub-nosed monkey.  In 1993 he became the first person to capture images of this highly endangered species.
