concerned citizen bearing witness. seed, scion, and crop swapper. immigrant, ph.d. -- here to stay, here to resist. And, this real American votes. #GOTV#VBM
This morning I called James and congratulated him on becoming the Senate nominee. Texas is primed to turn blue and we must remain united because this is bigger than any one person. This is about the future of all 30 million Texans and getting America back on track. With the primary behind us, Democrats must rally around our nominees and win. I’m committed to doing my part and will continue working to elect democrats up and down the ballot.
@LindaSue859898@amyklobuchar Give it all to Musk! Billions in subsidies because USA now prefers giving money to billionaires than to saving democracy. Meals on wheels? Research on cancer treatment? Nursing homes for the elderly? Nope. Taxpayers apparently want to fund billionaires. 👏🏼
@Angelajester2@GavinNewsom This is action, a counter to the right wing info warfare. If you’re not seeing the Democrats do something, it may be because what they’re doing is not being amplified or elevated.
@MAPatriot1630@atensnut If you were a veteran, would you rather have the govt funded VA system or UnitedHealthcare? One pays its management $$$ while denying 1/3 of health claims. But if Trump gets his way, you may get your wish: a weakened VA and a crappy/costly healthcare alternative.
I think one of the most difficult reckonings of this election is that the incentives we thought inspired voting choices -- a better life for your family and future for your community -- may not be as decisive as the desire to dominate and inflict cruelty on outgroups. Explanations that don't grapple with this point generally read to me like liberal wishcasting.
My piece in politico points to the biggest change in our political world: how information flows. Latinos and young people, who shift led right, disproportionately get news from social media. (Local news collapse also shapes the new reality)
This is Steve Bannon's world now: 'Politics is downstream from culture.' The young men who voted for Trump? Did they? Or for protein shakes and deadlifts? For YouTube shorts & Twitch? Because this is culture now. Curated by algorithms owned by broligarchs.

@therabbithole Full video here. Context is everything. Misleading by editing out context creates its own “truth”
But ponder this: Blind people describing the part of an elephant they can touch are telling “their” truth as they experience it.

📌I will NOT be a part of the self-loathing by too many in Democratic “leadership” as they try to convince people like me — a high school dropout — that I'm some college-educated elite who doesn't understand what the majority of "hardworking” white voters want in this country.

"These studies reveal an interesting fault line. While most women get their news from TikTok, most young men get their news from YouTube, X, and Reddit."
Also, if you read a newspaper, odds are 3-to-1 you voted Harris. If you don't consume news, odds are 2-to-1 you voted Trump.
@AndrewFeinberg Twitter has been overrun with distracting weeds. I want to be able to actually see the posts of people I follow and not the post algorithm that Twitter deems for me to see.
@sky_invisible@speechboy71 Dems had an opportunity to step towards those goals. No more.
GOP president. GOP house. GOP Senate. GOP Supreme Court. Oligarchs on stand by. Voter suppression on steroids.
Keep punishing Dems for not delivering and even harm reduction won’t be possible.
Context is relevant
GLOBALLY, there are rightward swing trends in ideology
Anti-immigrant sentiment is present worldwide, not just in U.S.
Also, post-pandemic inflation frustration = *anti-incumbent* trends
VP Harris *outperformed* margins globally, @ezraklein & @jonfavs

@mkraju Sanders et al has perfected Dem bashing. The party that tries is attacked while the party that does nothing but harm benefits.
Why are some groups more susceptible to disinfo? Why aren’t Dems’ accomplishments touted more?
Sanders has nothing to contribute & should STFU
@AsteadWH And how many times must Dems explain that the border problems could have been mitigated if not for GOP not wanting to do anything about it. Fear of other (those rapists&criminals coming to threaten white wives and daughters) once again won this election for Trump.
@AsteadWH And what if the problems people perceive they have are generated by misinformation and disinformation? How can one validate grievances that are created? Inflation affected black people, too (perhaps more so) and yet they remained clear eyed voters.
