Here's a little trick I've been using to render the ocean in A Short Hike! The water is just a plane that follows the player around. The texture and vertex animations are all done in world space! #madewithunity#gamedev
@jmrivera02 I get that classifying games into broad genres can be reductive, but for me using more specific qualifiers (like Metroidbrainia in the case of Animal Well) is useful shorthand to draw my attention to harder-to-find experiences in games.
How it started vs how it's going, cherry coffee table edition.
This is definitely the most complex build I've done so far ๐ซ Designs, tons of milling, 4 panel glue ups, wide inset drawer, sanding galore. A healthy serving of mistakes that I hopefully learned from.
@wesbos As a JS/TS dev, hard disagree on JS. It breaks down as soon as you start using it on anything moderately trying so it's Harbor Freight/Hercules
@FayerDev Nice. Well totally unrelated to Cocoon, I enjoyed Iris and the Giant, and Dicey Dungeons. Both fun, short turn-based games that are easy to pick up/put down while you're traveling.
@XRarchitect@samyam_youtube Hot take: this is terrible. For real, it's like the greatest minds of our generation are bent on finding fun new ways of hawking products.
@reduzio@PhiMarHal As someone who's been using Unity for 6 years, both the software and the company behind it have turned into hot garbage, so I'm learning Godot now. Can't imagine I'm alone in thinking this.
No one makes a better case for dropping Unity than... checks notes... Unity. Don't keep up with the latest and greatest? Cool, we're gonna throw away 5 years of your projects.
