Miriam, 32, has been enrolled in HIV care for over a year and consistently picks up her ARVs from the health facility. On paper, everything seemed fine until a routine viral load assessment revealed that she was still not virally suppressed.

Curious and concerned, health workers at her facility probed further. That's when Miriam confessed that she hadn’t been taking her medications regularly.
The reason? Severe side effects she never reported.

The real question is How many others are silently going through the same?

That’s why pharmacovigilance matters—monitoring medicine safety, tracking adverse reactions, and acting fast to protect patients.

To extend this beyond health facilities, our Pharmacy & Supply Chain Directorate partnered with the Pharmacovigilance unit of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to train Community Pharmacists to spot, report, and respond to ARV side effects at the community level.

This means quicker interventions, better adherence, and more clients like Miriam achieving viral suppression and leading healthier lives.

At their Program Review Meeting in Abuja, our Pharmacy & Supply Chain Management directorate came together to reflect and reimagine how we sustain uninterrupted access to lifesaving antiretrovirals across our supported facilities.

But we didn’t just look back—we looked ahead. From progress reviews across supported states to planning for new ARV regimens, leveraging AI in supply chain management, and even developing research ideas, this meeting was all about finishing this year strong and doing more in the years ahead.
