A happily married dude who likes lifting, the braves, gaming, and DND. You're probably here because I made a dumb joke on someone's post, and you're welcome.
The one thing I scream about is how strength is often the most abused stat because most DMs use it so little. I don't want to have to roll a strength, what do you mean not even athletics, check to lift that thing? My strength is x which means I can lift x lbs based on the rules as written!
I think the key is "and it makes sense their character can do it". The problem I have is when people dump a stat (or just have a low stat) and think they can just use roleplay their way past it with no negatives. If the stats don't matter then nothing matters. If your character has 5 charisma and you are constantly roleplaying your character the opposite of that its a meta problem.
If I as a player am really strong and I describe how I use proper form and name the appropriate muscles to lift a really heavy object as a character even though my pc dumped strength and has a 6 can I lift it without having to roll? No because that's my meta player knowledge. The game isn't about playing me, it's about playing my character. A eloquent and/or charismatic player should not be rewarded for using their meta knowledge/ability to do things that make no sense for their character to be able to do.
My beef with it is that now it's the player and not the character doing these things. The point of playing the game is that your character is at least partially represented on the sheet, and the stats on that sheet, in front of you. Bypassing that is essentially meta. Otherwise you can play a character and dump any stat and just get past it with pretty words... Words that probably have nothing to do with your actual character.
The fact so many braves fans will talk so negatively about the players that are struggling when the team has the best record in baseball is wild to me. Especially of the ones that have been around for a while and deserve better. I have faith they will come around.
@Dreythebeast@DiscussingFilm Genuinely have no beef with the game/developers but the first thing I noticed was it looks like the character isn't really walking as much as just sliding everywhere. Seemed a bit off.
