Yesterday we marked the 40th anniversary of the Mbuzini tragedy where President Samora Machel and 34 others perished in a plane crash. Mbuzini is a reminder of the devastation once visited upon those who took up the cause of liberation. OR Tambo described Machel as a steadfast companion of all who engage in just struggles. We thank your generation for illuminating a path for us. Khanimambo.

Ours is a story of struggle, sacrifice, progress and lessons still to be learnt. As we celebrate how far we’ve come, we look ahead to the work that remains. Democracy gives every eligible voter a voice in shaping their community’s future. So, let’s come to the table, celebrate our progress, ask the hard questions and make our voices heard. Because our future starts with us. Let’s continue building better communities together.

"In August 1988, Shirley Gunn walked into the headquarters of the Western Cape Military Command in Cape Town carrying a limpet mine hidden inside a custard box.
Wearing a sunhat, sunglasses and a dress, she did a route check past the Adderley Street flower sellers, bought everlasting flowers as a disguise, and walked straight in.
She went to the tearoom and drank tea, careful not to leave fingerprints, waiting for construction workers to leave. She planted the device in a tunnel and walked out, dumping the flowers at the Grand Parade before returning to a safe house in Clifton.
Minutes later, the blast tore through the base, causing massive damage but no casualties.
In 1986, she left South Africa for Umkhonto we Sizwe military training in Angola and Cuba. When she returned, she went underground, co-commanding the Ashley Kriel Detachment.
In 1990, they detained her again, this time with her infant son." - @thyphoidjack
Tauza Dance. A picture by Bob Gosani in the fifties. You can find the picture on display at Number Four, the Old Fort Prison in Braamfontein, where the Constitutional Court was built.
Black prisoners went through the worst form of humiliation in colonial & apartheid jails. Racial discrimination was continued in the prisons, going as far as diet for various racial groups.
Many Africana were arrested for pass laws transgressions. The Constitutional Court was built using some of the bricks from Number Four (prison) as a reminder to defend human dignity.
People forget that our industry is multifaceted. Just because a person broke out as an influencer doesn’t mean they didn’t go study and are gifted in acting. You attached to the idea of who they are.

I'm struggling to understand this reasoning. If my "ancestral home" is, for example, in Scotland does that mean I can go kick a family of it's land and claim it as my own? What am I missing here?
An extreme sport is finding your photos on Apple phones. Is it collections? Is it in recently saved, is it in recent days? Is it in library? Will it be in downloads…Stay tuned to find out where the picture I just took 3 minutes ago is.
This Monday on Mindful Mondays with Shudu, I sit down with Charlize Theron for a conversation about Africa’s potential, our young people, the work being done on the ground, and the realities we cannot afford to look away from. Episode out tomorrow 💕
This article is doing the opposite of what it was intended to do. So you’re telling me that Jacinita is willing lose her contracts with the government because of her love for this country? What a leader. 🤍🇿🇦👏🏾
I will never get comfortable with keeping wild animals in enclosures for our entertainment. And then when something happens, the animal is suddenly the problem. That tiger didn't invite anyone into its enclosure. Leave these animals alone.
