@ARoseCasey @Victor_Asal When I was an undergrad student an old head of department did this, when I told another senior professor what happen her reaction was ‘oh I saw you in his office, I was going to warn you.’ That bothered me just as much, that they all knew he was a problem (U of Michigan, 2007)
@Julie_C_Hwang @_Shan_Martinez_ Yes, more research is needed (cough my thesis) but experience of violence as a child is increased across all offenders, especially violent crime offenders. This piece addresses in mass shooters https://t.co/WFjVI3OH9T
@MuniraMustaffa Shovelled snow off sidewalks, sign holder, waitress, camp counsellor, movie extra, wedding tiara model, babysitter, cold caller, old fashion photo taker, sex shop worker. 10 years of doing anything to make a buck before I landed on my feet.
My family members first flirted with extremist ideas they found on Facebook, they got tired of everyone seeing their comments so they went to Parler-there they became members of XRW groups. Shut it down to stop new joiners but those already involved are going deeper & need help
@noemie_bouhana I hope the popular narrative will change over time and history won’t be kind to Trump. The reward for changing your mind (or at least not vocalising support for trump), might be fear of public opinion. But XRW have found their martyr and that’s bad news. Let’s go back to 2020
@noemie_bouhana I’m not sure there is much of a middle right now. Most his supporters are committed. My mom would be as close as I can think (she sometimes votes Democrat) and she blames the violence on BLM. You’re right, over time there will be a shift, but right now it’s just too polarised.
@noemie_bouhana I wish. But almost everyone I know that supported Trump, still supports him right now. They blame this on BLM and anything/everything else but Trump.
@MorganLKaplan Researching a unique dataset of radicalised individuals using closed Social Care case notes and interviews, looking at early childhood experiences (including domestic violence), selection and exposure and comparing to dataset of non-radicalised offenders living in the same area
@egavactip Bail is an option because no ones been found guilty, just charged. This question makes it seem like you are assuming guilt to all people who’ve been charged with a crime
