@conservmillen In high school I had three jobs at once : pizza restaurant, thrift store, and bakery. I was an executive director of a food pantry and kitchen. A teacher for close to 11 years. Now I raise 2 babies while getting my doctorate as a research assistant.
Loving the feathers and fire of my silk mama head scarf. @Angietherose my sister and supporter. I love your designs and how they make my tired eyes shine!
I’m in this creative place, helped along by nesting, steroids, and nervous energy, to capture different aspects of our new normal as a family transitioning from 3 to 4, in the midst of a pandemic, while pursuing my doctorate and soul calling. Let’s get sketch’in...
This morning I got a steroid shot in my bum to help our son into this world (((on Friday!!!!))). Literally a kick in the tail to get moving on a new project for my assistantship!

I feel like we were given this cultural chance to just shut it down and take a minute pause catch breath gape into the void a bit and instead we’ve rushed to fill the void with livestreams and podcasts and zooms calls and more shit I’m supposed to keep track of?
Our group at University was inspired by
@beeonaposy's great and insightful graph on how the allocation of time changed when a woman has a baby. We decided to use @flowingdata's tutorials to animate it using D3.JS and here is the result!
@beeonaposy Thank you for sharing this! I can’t wait to compare our experiences. It’s wonderful that visualizing this can inform those around us. I remember with our first child I didn’t know how I needed help. Now people can see it without having to ask!
@97khanafer@flowingdata@beeonaposy This is inspiring, and validating. I’m currently in the pregnancy stage, due in June. I’d love to see how this plays out and compare.
At the UTK career fair this past week. I had to tell a few fellow, younger-looking students that I was in fact attending the career myself and no I do not know where that booth is, no I am not someone who can sign you in! Lol #phdmom
