Finding #3 from my Nigeria BI project:
The median Nigerian business accesses 0% from formal banking.
Zero. The middle firm.
And female-owned businesses access 34% less than equivalent male-owned firms.
What I'm building:
5-page Power BI dashboard
→ Digital adoption gap by sector
→ Energy cost burden by region
→ Finance access by gender+size
→ Growth driver analysis
→ What the top 25% fastest-growing firms have in common

What I found in the first hour of cleaning:
• 68% of revenue cells have missing data
• Power outage frequency is tracked — and the numbers are brutal
• Only ~28% of firms have a website
None of this surprises me.
All of it should concern every business advisor in Nigeria.
The data: World Bank Enterprise Survey
4,200 Nigerian firms.
340 variables each.
Revenue. Staff. Power outages. Bank access. Website ownership. Growth rate.
All public. All free. All waiting to be turned into insight.

The 5 numbers every business must track weekly:
1. Revenue this week vs last week
2. Cost of acquiring one new customer
3. Gross margin %
4. Cash on hand (days of runway)
5. Your single best-performing product/service
The fix isn't expensive.
It's not a data science team nor a ₦20M software system.
It starts with defining 5 numbers ur business must know every week.
That's Business Intelligence.
This week I'm breaking it all down — follow @PhiBITech1
What's your biggest data blind spot?
4/ U miss the cash flow crisis
Cos nobody was watching the 8-week trend.
By the time U see it on the P&L—it's already a problem.
A live cash dashboard flags:
•Burn rate by week
•Revenue velocity
•Days of runway remaining
U should never be surprised by ur own cash position
3/ You open the wrong branch COS u picked location by feel, not by demand data. Real BI before expansion answers:
•Where do your current customers travel from?
•Which area has lowest competition + highest demand?
•What does the revenue threshold need to be to break even?
2/ You keep the wrong staff
Because there's no output data — just loyalty and visibility.
BI tracks:
• Revenue per employee
• Task completion rates
• Department cost vs. contribution
The person you think is your best performer might not be.
1/ You stock the wrong products
Because you're reading sales by memory, not by data.
A BI dashboard would show you:
• Which products sold last month
• Which are dead stock right now
• What to reorder before the shelf goes empty
You're losing money on this today.
