Day 2 of our Adolescent & Youth Health Camp 2026 in @WakisoDLG was successful. The camp continues tomorrow!
We are proud to see young people actively learning, sharing experiences, & building skills to influence their contexts & advocate for SRHR for a healthier future.💪🏾✨
Our Adolescent & Youth Health Camp last week went beyond improving access to health information & service. It equipped young people with economic empowerment skills including petroleum jelly and lip balm production, and climate-smart charcoal briquettes from organic materials.
Health workers agreed that such biases largely stem from limited knowledge of the legal service standards. Mentors clarified that age should not be a limiting factor, instead, medical eligibility assessment should apply. This reflection showed why continuous mentorship is vital.
This week at Nsangi HC III, Ndejje HC IV, Kajjansi HC IV & Busawamanze HC III,our mentorship reignited the conversation on age of consent to SRH services.A providers bravely confessed to turning away adolescents who sought family planning service, fearing they were ‘underage.’
@hivosrosa@CafeSRHR@MinofHealthUG@WakisoDLG Investing in healthproviders’ capacity is investing in adolescent & youth wellbeing.
Week 4 of our AYSRH Health Workers Mentorship Program concluded successfully, with hands-on learning & commitments to improvement at Kira HC IV, Kasangati HC IV, Nakawuka HC III & Kasanje HC III.
Yesterday, in collaboration with DHO‑ @WakisoDLG & @MinofHealthUG , PHIC kickstarted a health worker mentorship program at Wakiso HC IV.
The program strengthens delivery of Adolescent & Youth SRH services while driving a positive shift in provider attitudes to improve access.
Our on-site mentorships continue this week at Wattuba Health centre III, Buwambo HC IV, Kakiri HC III & Bulondo HC III. Great to see health workers eager to learn, unlearn, and improve AYSRH service delivery and access for better Health outcomes!
Because Jesus lives, we have hope for today and tomorrow.
