De Vlaamse regering beloofde bij zijn aantreden de erfbelasting te verlagen met 350 miljoen euro: een eerste giga daling van 200 miljoen euro vanaf 1 januari 2026. Oplopend tot een daling van 350 miljoen in 2029.

Die belofte is intussen helemaal ingeslikt. Van de daling erfenisbelasting komt niets meer in huis. Kijk hoe minister Ben Weyts er ondanks een hele reeks eerdere verklaringen tegenwoordig zelfs niet meer op durft te antwoorden ("we bespreken het in de volgende jaren").

In 2026 is de erfbelasting met 45 miljoen euro gestegen. Beloofd was een daling met 200 miljoen euro.

Bizar genoeg geen woord hierover in de media. Nochtans één van de grootste beloften. Overal grote artikels over bij lancering van de regering twee jaar geleden.

Ik zet de hele geschiedenis hieronder in een lang draadje. Ministers denken dat mensen snel vergeten. Dat is soms zo. Helaas voor hen: dit niet. Toppunt van onbetrouwbaarheid.
