@AmieByelich@HansaNarang17 I totally agree Amiee, I think I undervalue breakout rooms, so I'll have to find the right way to implement these in my instruction.
@innovative_inq@Kirksey_choir I've seen kids, especially in lower elementary grades, get to this same point of online class exhaustion after weeks of online classes. Tough to balance outside-of-class online social interaction these days.

I regularly host online workshops for faculty, usually have semi-formal delivery. Recently started one talking about massive snow storm we were having -> had most interactive session ever. Informal interaction builds social presence. #643Sp21#SPOL
Group cohesion achieved by using synchronous break-out rooms…group cohesion an important element of promoting social presence - So glad Webex finally added break out rooms; it’s amazing to see how important online breakout rooms are for social presence. #643Sp21#SPOResearch1
“A virtual teacher has to work harder to provide students with a cohesive environment and the social connections that foster academic success.” HyFlex instruction takes this to a new level #643Sp21#GetPresent
“Encourage use of bold, underline, and emoticons in appropriate ways.” Was hosting a faculty webinar recently where a participant used emoticons after the tech froze up. Was amazed how much it fostered interaction. #643Sp21#GetPresent
Faculty in my online undergrad math and science courses gave little credence to social presence. Wkly announcements were about it. What can be done to help faculty teaching large online undergraduate asynchronous science courses build social presence? #643Sp21#NotADog
