In the next little while the Blue Jays will need to find spots for Barger and Lukes. While it will require a couple of DFAs, those spots should absolutely be those of Sosa and Sanchez. Schneider at least has defensive flexibility and provides way more competitive ABs than Sosa.
If Lauer complains about not starting...
I would not be surprised if Lauer gets an "arm fatigue" IL trip tomorrow. The Blue Jays cannot keep throwing him out there with performances like this becoming routine.
The Toronto Blue Jays better have a Big Oak's Quesadilla stand at the Rogers Centre within a month. It's such a perfect opportunity to embrace a new star and give the fans delicious food. Who doesn't love a quesadilla?!
@PTI Given this shocking revelation of flawed tracking I wonder if Pablo will finally abandon his call for robot umps and accept an imperfect human solution (you got me, btw)
So tomorrow the Blue Jays just put Brendon Little on the IL with "arm discomfort" or literally anything? Dude looked great in Spring, but the second the lights came back on he's just lost it.
In a few weeks when the Blue Jays get more comfortable with the challenge system games like today's will be interesting. Vlad had a bad early challenge. There were at least a dozen later times someone should have challenged but didn't. Ump's zone was wide as hell all night.
I'm curious what Sportsnet does to fill the void that Buck leaves. Of the two obvious choices I prefer Caleb Joseph for the energy he brings. I think Joe Siddall works better next to Jamie to provide analysis.
We all knew Buck Martinez was going to retire soon, but it's still a bit sad that we won't get his voice covering the Blue Jays anymore. A legend who deserves to be in the Level of Excellence.
I doubt MLB will actually get a hard cap, but perhaps increase luxury taxes to like NBA levels to possibly stop the Dodgers from just exploiting their ability to print money? Something to where Tucker's 60m would cost them 300m in tax?
One of the great mysteries to me is why people show up late to concerts and miss the openers.
Last June I went to see @lights and got my ass completely handed to me by King Mala, who I now absolutely love and just saw headline a show yesterday. It's a joy to find new favorites.
As much as I'd love Scherzer back with the Blue Jays, I can completely understand why they went with the reliable Cease.
Scherzer is a legend, but in retrospect it's a damn miracle the Blue Jays survived his injury and Francis' performance for the first two months.
The last two years the Toronto Blue Jays invested all their Free Agent time towards two players who went elsewhere and didn't decide until most big names were gone. This year, they aren't wasting time. 2026 is going to be fun!
Yet again Michael Wilbon uses Wins as the top measure of a pitcher for Cy Young. Skenes' ERA was 0.73 better than his pick Peralta (Peralta's 2.70 ERA is still great) and the best in MLB. He'd punish Skenes for playing on a team that scored the least runs in baseball.
@awfulannouncing At least Kornheiser seemed shocked by Wilbon's complete dismissal of the issue.
Also, something tells me that Wilbon would be screaming about this if it involved the Chicago Cubs.
Ernie Clement not winning the utility Gold Glove is more proof that the voters absolutely do not watch games. Yeah, he only played the infield, but was the league leader in DRS, which apparently counted for nothing. DubΓ³n played more positions, but what the hell?!
The fact the Toronto Blue Jays got to extra innings in Game 7 of the World Series is still damn impressive.
Springer got hurt in Game 3. Bo can barely run. Santander was hurt all year. Yimi and Sandlin injured long ago. Francis was never healthy.
Finish the job next year!
Weird choice for MLB to use Game 3 of the World Series to advertise why ABS is needed to correct for blind umpires who take their sweet time calling strikes. Game should be 1-1. This dudes up-down strike zone is random as hell.
I find it ironic that the biggest issue for the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALCS, being the lefty bullpen, might be its biggest strength heading into the World Series. May the Little redemption tour begin!
