(3) President Aquino believed in inclusivity and that Filipinos – men and women alike – should be “united in creating a bright future.” In every sense of the word, President Aquino was a steadfast champion of inclusivity and the empowerment of women.
(2) As tributes and stories pour in from all over the world to remember our former President, we would be amiss if we do not recognize the indelible mark President Aquino left in the pursuit of women’s economic empowerment, gender equality, and inclusive growth.
(1) The Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN) joins the nation in mourning the loss of our former President, Benigno “Noynoy” S. Aquino III. We offer our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his family and the entire nation.
Dear girls who aspire to be #WomenInScience,
Don't let anything stop you from achieving your dreams.
Here's some words of encouragement from from one of the 2020 Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, Emmanuelle Charpentier!
We mourn the loss of an #feminist icon, hero, and a relentless voice in the power of #dissent. She fought for the voiceless and changed the course of history through her work and influence
May we honor her legacy by working together towards genuine #equality in society. #RBG
We will never forget Ruth Bader Ginsburg, U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
#RBG was a champion for justice and she cleared the way for gender equality so other women can have a seat at the table. Her legacy will live on.
Rest in power 🖤
Further, it is imperative to ensure gender mainstreaming across all ASEAN Economic Community pillars and sectoral bodies. After all, it is through genuine inclusivity that we can ensure economic recovery and growth in the region— without leaving anything or anyone behind.
The #ASEAN Business Advisory Council 16th Joint Business Councils recently held a virtual meeting and @ASEAN_women was represented through the participation of PhilWEN: Ms. @chitjuan (Former #AWEN Chairperson), Atty. Kristine Alcantara, and Ms. Boots Garcia (@PhilwenOrg Chair)
Cognizant of the reality that all sectors and areas of life have been greatly affected by the pandemic, this poses a challenge to the #ASEAN community to work closely together and to respond to the needs of each sector in the region.
AWEN, through PhilWEN, emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for women-led and women-owned MSMEs and to ensure increased participation of women in rebuilding economies.
On World #SuicidePreventionDay, let’s remind ourselves to show kindness and look after one another. In #ASEAN where no one is left behind, we encourage you to mentally check in with yourself and people close to you.
Let’s reach out and care for each other.
To date, @ASEAN_women (w/ efforts led by @PhilwenOrg) continues to pursue engagements & opportunities to provide inputs to the design, development, & implementation of regional strategies & policies to operationalize gender mainstreaming & women business empowerment across ASEAN
