President Aquino exerted tremendous leadership in the Women Empowerment movement.

(3) President Aquino believed in inclusivity and that Filipinos – men and women alike – should be “united in creating a bright future.” In every sense of the word, President Aquino was a steadfast champion of inclusivity and the empowerment of women.

Cognizant of the reality that all sectors and areas of life have been greatly affected by the pandemic, this poses a challenge to the #ASEAN community to work closely together and to respond to the needs of each sector in the region.

AWEN, through PhilWEN, emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment for women-led and women-owned MSMEs and to ensure increased participation of women in rebuilding economies.
