OTD 1997: Just hours after broadcasting a game, Richie Ashburn dies in NYC hotel. His passing produces a huge outpouring of affection from friends and fans. Ironically, Phillies beat Mets, 1-0; Ashburn wore #1 with the Phillies and finished his playing career with the Mets.
