Today is September 10 - the climatological peak of Atlantic #hurricane season. In 2026, the Atlantic has generated the least Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) of any season through Sept. 10 since 1950. ACE is an integrated metric accounting for storm intensity & duration.

@stargazingdad Yup. When people miss the "good old days" of the past it's largely because of what they've forgotten. It's a temporal version of "distance lends enchantment".
This excerpt from "Stumbling on Happiness" is interesting:
The primary reason for CSU's below-normal Atlantic #hurricane season forecast is high confidence in continuing strong #ElNino conditions. El Nino typically decreases Atlantic hurricane activity via increases in Caribbean/tropical Atlantic vertical wind shear.
@aaronshem Tried watching that years ago with an open mind. When it got to that scene, and he went on about how he was nervous of the height but it was the only way to show how warm the Earth was getting, I gagged & couldn't handle that much insult to my intelligence. Ridiculous theater!π
@AriellaBrown Been thinking about this a lot, how to stand out in that ocean w/ quality, not click-bait. The statistical nature of AI creates regression-to-the-mean content. It's challenging to connect at a deeper, more insightful & satisfying level with the reader than what they're used to.
