The day-in, day-out degradation of doctor's self-worth is what can drive physicians to form the solidarity needed to face today's corporatization of healthcare.

Docs will never give up on their patients. Thats why they don't unionize or strike. The only way to combat the epidemic of burnout is to give them a place where they can practice medicine on their own terms. #physiciansunited

#burnout in physicians is due to
- Long hours and demands / no control over time
- Tremendous responsibility / no control over care
- Innumerable "moral paper cuts"
We docs at #physiciansunited are uniting to take back medicine and our lives. Follow to see how. #medtwitter
Why do physicians not unionize?
1. Dedicated to patients over themselves so unwilling to "walk out"
2. Don't trust unions (politically or dt AMA experience)
Solution: Create a way to unite while still caring for patients. Listen to them.

The people who took an oath to do no harm... they are the flat turquoise line at the bottom of this chart.
The doctors in #Physiciansunited joined to reclaim the healthcare system in service of patients.
We are doctors. And we are patients ourselves.
The current system isn't working for anyone but the middle men.
Our mission is to change this by re-centering the doctor-patient relationship.
Patients have access to primary care and specialty care (even a #lipidologist!), with #NoInsuranceNeeded. They also get to select their own doctor and keep that doctor - #continuityofcare. https://t.co/xBdmGMpYzl
Patients; doctors want to take their time to hear you out. You are their priority.
But the middle-man demands on employed physicians have made that impossible.
We are now uniting to restore the doctor-patient relationship #physiciansunited#noinsuranceneeded#directtodocs
Doctors are not exempt from mental health struggles. They can still be great doctors. We need a system that allows doctors to #selfcare while allowing them to continue to work while taking the time they need. #MentalHealthAwareness#MedTwitter
Our first follow has to be burnout warrior @gabrieldane because #PhysiciansUnited came together to #FightBurnout.
We are a cooperative of docs helping each other practice autonomously while re-centering the doctor-patient relationship. Learn or join at https://t.co/9xjx1XKosq
