July 19th 2026 is lots of things, but most importantly it’s All-Ireland Hurling Final Day. 📍

(Calm down Lionel, you’re not on till later)

For me this will be my 20th year photographing the All-Ireland SHC final. But given three replays in-a-row, today will be my 23rd Final capturing the action – and my 35th Hurling Final to be ‘in the building’ for.

Here’s some pics from each of those finals to whet the appetite for later on.

Henry Shefflin is in there. The Artane band, the groundstaff with their final touches, David Burke lifting Liam MacCarthy for Galway for the first time since ’88. Noel McGrath jumping for joy and Shane McGrath using the cup for a helmet.

Shane O’Donnell walking around, hands on head, in a near empty stadium as he takes in his unbelievable debut in the 2013 Replay – and Declan Hannon lifting Liam MacCarthy over his head in a behind-closed-doors COVID final.

Oh, and Brian Gavin’s poor nose is in there as well.

Galway take on Limerick at half three, in a repeat of the 2018 Final – very different teams but the same managers.

Is anything to be said for saying another replay
