The "Mirage III NG" was an attempt to modernise the old "Mirage III".
Based on an existing architecture to reduce development costs it was equipped with fly-by-wire controls derived from the Mirage 2000, a fixed canard plan, a refuelling boom.

Concorde 002 icing trials. In the 1970s, engineers used a modified Canberra bomber from Boscombe Down as an airborne "icing tanker" to test Concorde prototype 002's deicing systems-spraying water ahead to artificially create ice clouds. One trial also hit a lightning strike.👀

Just wow. The Curtiss-Wright XP-55 Ascender was a 1943 prototype fighter that aimed for superior performance but was plagued by dangerous stall characteristics-2 of 3 prototypes crashed during testing. Program was canceled in 1945. The survivor is on display at the Air Zoo.👀
