<Should You Leave Your Portfolio Alone During the World Cup? >
The World Cup is not a Fed meeting.
It is not earnings season.
It is not a recession signal.
But academic research says global football can still move markets — through mood, distraction, sleep loss, and consumer spending.
So should you touch your portfolio?
Probably not.
But you should watch the edges.

Market Regime Snapshot This Week | Strong Economy, Weak Tape
The market is not trading like a recession scare yet. Growth remains resilient, credit stress is contained, and liquidity is still adequate.
The problem is the mix: money is available but expensive, inflation is still sticky, and sentiment is breaking down. That makes this less of a classic recession trade and more of a valuation-pressure market.
For now, the risk is not that the economy is collapsing. The risk is that sticky inflation and high rates keep compressing the multiple investors are willing to pay for growth.
PickAlpha Midday:
A high-level internal meeting in early 2025 reportedly marked a turning point in Apple's AI strategy, with senior executives concluding that Apple Intelligence had underperformed and Siri's overhaul was falling behind schedule. Concerns centered on Apple losing ground to OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Microsoft and Meta, prompting leadership changes and a broader restructuring of AI efforts.
Tickers: $AAPL $MSFT $GOOGL $META
Our view is Apple has moved from denying the AI gap to actively reorganizing around it. That's an important shift. The market already knows Apple is behind; what it doesn't know is whether Apple can execute a credible catch-up plan. WWDC matters less for flashy demos and more for evidence that AI has become a top-down company priority rather than a side project.
Week of June 1–5: Hot payrolls, higher yields and a sharp de-risking hit megacap tech

Does the broader market still possess upward momentum, or will this catalyst plunge equities into a protracted bear market? The answers to these two pivotal questions will dictate our strategic positioning moving forward -- specifically, whether we should be buying the dip or selling into the rallies.
