@joewheat27 Or, if we were better at it. Imagine if Mbappe, Olise and Dembele played for us instead of France. Popularity would be thru the roof.
And we’d simply complain about the refs, offsides, and VAR like every other contending country.
@itismarkharris Lol. We just haven’t been good enough. If we were out here with Messi, Mbappe and Olise on our team the sport would be through the roof in popularity (and we’d complain about the rules and refs like every contending team fanbase).
@Mayzomatic Glad so many are taking an interest in the beautiful game. Genuinely. Consider that the way offsides is called now keeps inferior teams in the game; it gives them a chance to occasionally upset a superior side. It’s one of the facets that makes the game strategic and interesting.
@jgraveytrain26 Lot of opinions without depth of knowledge floating around. Hard to keep perspective when facing outrageous claims proclaimed with faux confidence. That said, isn’t it great they have an opinion at all? Hopefully they all stick around and learn the beautiful game.
@Chels1an This is correct. Balo may have been our best player to date, but he also happens to be the most replaceable based on depth and coaching options. Not mutually exclusive. Losing Tyler Adams or Richards would be much worse
@CoachRooney16@UTDKobi Fair. I just don’t think Argentina is as clear as France on the other half of the bracket (despite having to face more difficult teams). Colombia shares the South American mindset and knows what it’ll take to beat Argentina.
Not my wish, but I think it’s a legitimate matchup
@the_bonnfire Gio is the false 9. Leave Pulisic on the wing making diagonal runs. Belgium has struggled against pace - Pepi upfront would likely be their preference
@HiMyNameIsSeton It’s not about who the best player is, it’s about what’s behind him. We have solid options to backfill Balogun. Pulisic, Adams, McKennie, Tillman - even Dest or Robison - would be more difficult to replace. I’d play Gio as a false nine and run pace at Belgiums back line.
