Every aircraft has graphs to determine the runway length required to take off and land safely in dry or wet conditions. A Typhoon requires far less runway than a Hawk, so rest assured, a wet runway is not an issue for defending the nation. For a Hawk, it’s more of a challenge!

#OTD in 1970: Trans International Flight 893, a cargo DC-8, crashes in NY (US), all 11 aboard die. On take-off from JFK, jet had stalled at around 300 ft and went down near runway. Inquiry found an “asphalt covered object” jammed the elevator, causing a loss of pitch control.
