☎️ Vuur als verdienmodel: hoe milieufraude en biomassawinst Spanje laten afbranden​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Kijkend naar de kaart van de bosbranden kwam het bij me op om even een blik te werpen op de aanbestedingen in de regio, en ik heb iets interessants gevonden. In 2023 werd in de buurt van dit gebied het windpark Ágata voorgesteld (110 MW, 19 windturbines van meer dan 200 m hoogte). De promotor was Green Capital Development, en de hoofdlocatie van de windturbines was Peguerinos (Ávila).

De evacuatie-infrastructuur liep door naar Madrid en raakte gebieden aan nabij San Martín de Valdeiglesias en beschermde zones (IBA “El Escorial-San Martín de Valdeiglesias”, dennenbossen van Bajo Alberche, enz.).

Het resultaat was een negatieve Verklaring van Milieueffect (BOE van januari 2023). Het project werd neergehaald door het MITECO vanwege de impact op de avifauna, beschermde habitats en het landschap.

Iets vergelijkbaars gebeurde vorig jaar in Matarraña (Teruel). In juli 2025 gaf het Ministerie voor de Ecologische Transitie een ongunstige Verklaring van Milieueffect af voor het oorspronkelijke project (windparken Arlo, Céfiro, Paucali en Argestes). Enkele weken later braken de bosbranden van afgelopen zomer uit. Curiositeit: in juli 2026 (amper twee weken geleden) heeft het bedrijf het project heractiveerd met een gewijzigde versie.

Op dit punt van het verhaal zou het tijd zijn om te spreken over de wijdverbreide fraude in de milieueffectverklaringen (DIA) van bedrijven als Forestalia. Precies daarom worden momenteel Fernando Samper Rivas, president en eigenaar van Forestalia, en Eugenio Domínguez Collado, voormalig adjunct-directeur-generaal voor Milieubeoordeling van het MITECO, vervolgd voor milieuprevaricatie, omkoping, criminele organisatie en witwassen.

De fraude bestaat erin het milieubeoordelingssysteem te manipuleren zodat projecten voor hernieuwbare energie (voornamelijk wind- en zonneprojecten van Forestalia) onregelmatig gunstige DIA’s kregen. Onder de projecten die profiteerden van de DIA-fraude is het belangrijkste en meest mediagenieke het Cluster van Maestrazgo (Teruel), dat wordt beschouwd als het grootste windcomplex van Spanje in voorbereiding. Er wordt gesproken van ongeveer 52 projecten van Forestalia (wind- en zonne-energie) waarvan de DIA’s onder verdenking staan. Veel daarvan liggen in Aragón, vooral in Teruel en Zaragoza, gebieden die bijzonder zwaar getroffen zijn door bosbranden, zowel vorig jaar als dit jaar.

Bovendien profiteert juist Forestalia goed door de verbrande bomen mee te nemen naar hun biomassacentrales. Dat hout wordt meestal verkocht tegen prijzen die ver onder die van gezond hout liggen, soms tegen ‘saneerprijs’ of zelfs met publieke subsidies voor de verwijdering. Het kan bij biomassacentrales aankomen tegen significant lagere kosten, vooral als het dicht bij de centrale ligt, door de lagere transportkosten. Dat was vorig jaar het geval bij de bosbranden in het Bierzo, toen het verbrande hout naar de biomassacentrale van Cubillos del Sil werd gebracht, eigendom van Forestalia.

Kortom, vuur is zeer winstgevend voor sommige bedrijven, maar zeer kostbaar voor de burgers. De kosten per hectare voor blussen zijn tien keer hoger dan die voor preventie (bosreiniging, gecontroleerde branden, enz.). Het wild laten groeien van het bos bevordert dat branden steeds feller worden, en dus is het gunstig voor het bedrijfsmodel dat ik beschrijf. Ter bevestiging: in veel autonome gemeenschappen zijn de blusmiddelen geprivatiseerd, wat het vuur-zakenmodel verder aanwakkert.

Dit is het bedrijfsmodel waartoe ze het bos van Spanje willen maken.

And I can promise you, being someone overseas wearing the uniform, when you're fighting for your country, you don't care what party's in office, but you're fighting to defend your country, and you turn on the news and see your elected officials stabbing you in the back, telling you that you're failing, that you've failed every goal of the war, is what I just heard.

Last time I checked, we've wiped these bastards out. An occasional missile strike and boats in the straits, that's not military strength. Those are the flailings of a failing empire. Those are the flailings of a nation in collapse because they deserve it. So I encourage our colleagues on both sides of the aisle, whatever's politically convenient, whatever plays well on Twitter or Facebook, think about the people who are deployed right now, standing on that wall with a loaded weapon, who have volunteered to defend our country and our way of life.

I used to think Zohran Mamdani was a ‘cultural Muslim’ who didn’t really care much about religion, and was just a third-worldist using his Islamic background for identity politics and votes. I was wrong.

It is becoming increasingly more obvious by the day that he’s actually an extremely radicalized Shia Muslim practicing taqiya all along.

Remember a couple months ago when relatives of Iranian Regime officials were arrested across America? They were all pretending to live secular lives, the women even wore provocative clothing. They were all practicing taqiya.
