"Leaves of three, leave them be"
Poison ivy is a native Florida plant. Its oil, called urushiol, can cause a severe skin rash when in contact with the skin. Its leaves always consist of three leaflets and may be toothed or have smooth edges. Be careful and avoid contact!
Calling all of Pine Jog's nature detectives! π
Any guess on who might have eaten these leaves? Let us know in the comments!
Animals may leave traces of their activities all around us. These chewed leaves were a pretty tasty meal for some of the smaller critters on our property!
Spotted!
π’One of our resident Gopher Tortoises, heading out from its burrow to forage around our prairie ecosystem!
Please remember, all gopher tortoise and their burrows are protected by law. If you encounter them, always watch with respect and appreciation.
