I don't think writers should be forced to change words in their works so that it is easier to "understand" when the original words fit best, but they might take looking up for context. I feel like people just want "easy," self-pleasuring reads these days.
Do you think books cater more to the reader now than they used to? My editing professor says that we need to edit thinking that the reader doesn't know anything. But as a writer, I loathe the idea of having to over-explain. I don't think great American novelists over-explained
@d_la_reina Why is THIS considered going above and beyond? 😭 a grown ass man… this is not 6th grade texting on the iPad 🤣 I can’t see how a grown man can’t understand how pathetic this is talking about making it up and healing after he cheated n had a baby w/ the girl
@AuthorGFAllen What really worked for me was finding a new place to write. I found an eclectic diner by my old job and would write there at night when it was busy. Also, find something that reminds you of why you fell in love with your book idea in the first place and you’ll get back into it
Should I start selling copyediting services on my Etsy? I love being a freelancer!!! I hope I can make it out of a 9-5 one day just writing & editing full time from my cozy little home somewhere near a beach 🥹 #copyediting#writersoftwitter#books#freelancer
Just listed a LARGE commission that you can purchase ✍🏼My last word count cap was 3000 and now it’s up to 10,000. #ghostwriters what is appropriate pricing? Do you charge per word or hourly? #etsyseller#writingcommunity#writer#books https://t.co/RLXIcGrFRa
@theoneginevra I don’t think it’s dying but it’s being extremely picky. There are specific tropes and niches that are selling right now, most of them lacking true literary quality. So it’s hard for good authors to get through the process and sell, hence self-publishing. Just my thoughts
