Fuller's ESB reached a Seattle bar on 7th November 1987. Jeffrey House had spent nearly ten years getting it there, and most of that time went on persuading Fuller's, not America. Then American brewers started making beers of their own in its image.

Firestone Walker’s Double Barrel Ale took silver in English-Style Pale Ale at the Great American Beer Festival this month. The yeast behind it was catalogued as a Fuller’s ESB strain. They chose it over the cleaner option on taste.

Two blows of the hammer and it’s open. If you’re not flying to Munich: thirty-four British Oktoberfests, sorted by the only question that matters once the oompah starts — is the beer in the stein actually from the Wiesn?

🍻 Cask Ale Week Brewery of the Day – JW Lees 🍻
Our third Brewery of the Day for @caskaleweek is @JWLeesBrewery.
JW Lees is Manchester’s oldest brewery, founded in 1828 by John Lees and still run as a seventh-generation family business.

And we’re off. @RoostersBrewCo x Green Cheek’s Festbier isn’t chasing authenticity — it’s just a very good German-style lager. Which, as today’s post argues, is kind of the point.
@Devon_Tall_Man The post says it’s free on Google Play but shows up as £5.99. We offer a free 7-day trial to see if people like it, and that has proven to be a good introduction for us. Good luck!

7 DAYS TO GO 🎉
This time next week, #CaskAleWeek 2026 will officially be underway.
From 17–27th Sept, we’ll be celebrating everything that makes cask special, with pubs and breweries across the country getting involved through festivals, tap takeovers, tastings, special brews.
Our radar now scans for venues outside of PINtPOINT when opened in a new location. Anything it digs up is ringed amber for the first 24 hours and kept forever for everyone.
We're calling them Unearthed Blips.
The map is slowly revealing itself, wherever you are.

We couldn’t turn 195 without bringing back an old favourite to draft 🍺
Named after RamRod D’Arcy, the Dorset Horn ram who once called our brewery home, it’s a nod to our brewing heritage.
Back on draught at 22 of our pubs from 17th September for a very limited run.
