In Stephen King’s novel, telekinesis isn’t a secret witch family power fantasy. It is an explicit, dormant sex-linked genetic trait. Margaret was simply a carrier who passed the mutation down, she had zero telekinetic ability, zero magic and zero powers to "hide" or "refuse to tap into."

The entire horror of Margaret White is that she is a regular, unhinged human fanatic whose only weapon was psychological and physical domestic torture. Turning her into a closeted psychic who secretly suppresses her own "gifts" completely cheapens King’s point: Margaret wasn't battling supernatural urges, she was a sadistic religious abuser who broke her child with a broom handle and a Bible.

People insisting that the tiger should have been shot to save this guy are operating from the same riak-elimination mindset that has led to "don't exit bus until it stops moving" signs.

From all accounts it was extraordinarily difficult to get into the tiger cage. You couldn't just accidentally fall in, or hop over a waist-high railing. The guy had to scale a tall fence, and apparently did so after fighting off people who tried to stop him.

So then people will say oh, the fence should have been taller, or it should have been topped with concertina wire, or it should have been entirely enclosed. Fine, you do that, and then someone even more suicidally determined comes along and finds a way through r additional expensive security measures. They bring wire cutters or something. So then that doesn't work, and people say ok, well zoos just shouldn't have tigers then, they're too dangerous, retards might get hurt, we need to cull the tigers to save the retards.

So then no one gets to enjoy tigers and tigers go extinct.
