@princepolity I agree I get my hearing aids through the Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing. They go above and beyond. Having used the foe profit system for them there is no comparison. I am so pissed off!

Um @GlobalEdmonton you might want to mention these aren't just any two dozen doctors. THEY ARE ALL MAID PROVIDERS.

MAiD providers don't want MAiD revenue stream cut.

The fact this is even news is mind-blowing.

What happens when it's a doctor who issues 1,400 (or more) MAiD approvals?

Oh right. That can never happen because Jocelyn Downie told the parliamentary committee the special goodness of physicians is it's own safeguard.

Same with Canada. Canada's Bill C-7, which expanded MAiD by removing the requirement that a person's natural death be reasonably foreseeable and opening it up for those with potentially decades left to live, was introduced in Oct 2020 and passed in March 2021.

Under these conditions MAiD can be - and no doubt is - 'suggested' 'chosen' and carried out.

People who support MAiD have to wilfully shut out every piece of knowledge we have about our society & especially health care in order to maintain their position.

This is an area of Canadian law. That means you can't 'wing it' when it comes to the facts or details - or substitute words.

And Canadian disabled people have worked on this for decades and been very clear about our opposition to MAiD - PERIOD, no qualifiers.

Just a reminder that disabled people in Canada opposed Canada's original MAiD law not just its expansion.

The word terminal does not appear in the legislation. Also people w terminal conditions can live for decades. Reasonably foreseeable natural death has no formal definition.

I've seen a lot of cruel, mean-spiritied gov decisions covering #bcpoli (cutting bus passes for ppl with disabilities comes to mind) but I think the Charleigh Pollock case is right up there with the worst.
The @bcndp is badly mistaken if it thinks the case will just go away. It's grown into "GoFundMe Healthcare" and it will continue to get worse politically as the community rallies to raise money to buy the drug for the family.
