Library Club spent two lunch periods chalking the sidewalks in front of school to promote books and reading. It’s amazing how much fun chalk can be! A lot of great artists and great one-liners! What a surprise for their fellow students at dismissal. And don’t forget…READ!

Highlights from the first STREAM Club challenge…build the highest tower with only cards…no tape, glue or other materials in less than 10 minutes. We were so busy revising our ideas..I was able to get a few photos!

We celebrated our summer readers with a pizza/ice cream party. Some read books and some completed activities. Keeping with our 250th Anniversary America theme, students posted to a map of somewhere they traveled this summer or somewhere they went to via a book. Congrats!

8th graders appreciated a fellow student playing his bass guitar during lunch. Rock star in the making! We’ve had a piano serenade, but the first for a guitar. Love when students can share their talents and interests in a positive way. You can find anything at your Library!

8th graders doing their thing in the Library at lunch. We are all enjoying the space in the newly opened Library. There’s something for everyone!

Hosted the MS Student Activities Fair in the Library. It was awesome to see 7th and 8th graders sharing all of the great things they do in each club. Lots of new members to add to the rosters!

Mrs. Finamore’s class came in the Library to find some independent reading books. It was great to meet them and discuss the library and reading! Hope to see them soon for their next great read!

8th graders have been making their own Jeopardy games at home and opening the game to all students in the Library at lunch. Today’s category was Pokémon and I’m clueless. #ownershipofthelibrary

It’s so good to be back in our Library this Fall. Be sure and check out the new space!! Lots more to come, but we’re off to a great start! #librariesmatter

Finished SNOOP by @gordonkorman & thought it had a great modern take on what snooping looks like today. And though even though you can, doesn’t mean you should. Loved the inclusion of drones, live streaming, etc. A modern tale of a modern teen snoop. Check it out in the Library!

[Deana Simonetti @PlainedgeMSLMC]

My latest read by @gordonkorman
…SLUGFEST. A great choice for summer!! Korman books always seem to “get” the trials and tribulations of middle school. And shows how no matter our differences we can learn from one another. I’m moving on to SNOOPED next!

[Deana Simonetti @PlainedgeMSLMC]

Continuing my @gordonkorman read-a-thon the last two weeks so I can honestly share the books with my students. OLD SCHOOL. Potential for so many discussions & community projects with the elderly. It’s worth checking out! 7th grade Library Club member Rosalie agrees with me! 👍

[Deana Simonetti @PlainedgeMSLMC]

I’ve been on a @gordonkorman read the last week or two. I am so happy to share that I loved Hypergifted!! Ungifted is one of my most recommended books for MS students & I really liked the spin on the 3rd book. Check out all 3 books in the Library!! #faveMSauthor #dreamschoolvisit

Happy Earth day!! Stop by the Library at lunch today! Celebrate nature, national parks, oceans, the starry sky…whatever you love about the outdoors!

[Deana Simonetti @PlainedgeMSLMC]

From Library Club and the Plainedge MS Library, Happy National Library week!! According to Albert Einstein, “The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.” Be sure and stop in Room 301 and soon in our new library on the first floor!

Some 8th grade Library Club members staying afterschool to help plan the 8th grade Legacy project for the new Library. We are really going to miss this crew!
