My colleague begged his wife to go for a second degree in Nursing after she had been jobless at home for seven years.
She studied Yoruba for her first degree.
She initially refused, but later agreed on one condition:
“If you want me to go for another degree, you will take full financial responsibility and give me a monthly allowance.”
My colleague agreed.
He paid for a tutor to prepare her for and retake her WAEC.
He paid her fees, supported her throughout the programme and made sure she had everything she needed.
Last month, she did her final defense.
My colleague checked the acknowledgement page.
She used almost half of the page to appreciate her pastor, parents and friends.
But his name was nowhere to be found.
Not even as her husband.
He asked her why she didn’t mention his name.
She looked at him and said:
“But we dey see every day na. Why should I put your name again?”
He spent ₦8.5 million training her.
