So, where are we on the Muslim demand to ban cow slaughter and the government saying, 'no thanks, it's fine to kill cows'? How did we manage to let that slide?
Speaking at an event in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responded to recent demands by some Muslim clerics and organisations to declare the cow as the national animal of India.
Yogi Adityanath said, “I have come to know that some maulvis have demanded that cows be declared a national animal. The cow is already our mother and our bond with the cow spans beyond lifetimes. No formal declaration is required to define the relationship between a mother and her child.”
Calling the demand “double standards,” he alleged that some people support cow slaughter while also demanding national animal status for cows. The chief minister further warned against cow slaughter and said his government would take strict action against offenders.

Important story on how Census is being reduced to a farce by a govt desperate to hide reality
Excl: Ground reality vs official records: Census fieldwork is throwing up data that differ from govt records on open defecation free villages, use of cow dung cakes/kerosene/crop residue for cooking in urban areas despite LPG connection, no electricity. Enumerators asked to revisit and review the “data discrepancies”.I ✍️
