Not buying new things is just as important as (or even more effective than) buying zero waste things...so much to think about, so challenging to resist yourself, but better for my purse. https://t.co/CiOX0cWcDc
Confession: 3 weeks ago, a friend taught me how to cook couscous. It’s so easy; I love it and been having it everyday now! But I’ve been buying from #Tesco in city centre and it’s not recyclable plastic. I wish there was a place I could just buy in bulk and bring my own container
I found that M&S have recyclable plastic for digestives and biscuits! Too bad there isn’t a shop in Durham city centre #marksandspencer#digestives#durham
#plasticfreejuly failures so far:
1. Mushrooms packaging, I feel like there’s no alternative
2. College BBQ had plastic cups, straws and cutlery. Was caught off guard; why did I not think in advance. But at least I have brought them home so that they are not single use.

Postponed buying bread for the moment, because it wasn’t #plasticfree. So I’m having cornbread in the meanwhile, because that’s the only kind of bread I know how to make. I also skipped the sugar, but it tastes great! #pfjuk
This morning while waiting for my kettle to boil, I went through some things in my cupboard and was appalled by how many "not currently recyclable" plastic there was: rice, cereal, pasta, bread for starts! All my basics. #PlasticFreeJuly#pfjuk
I'm starting this account because it's Day 2 of #PlasticFreeJuly and I'm already feeling overwhelmed by the amount of plastic. I would appreciate any local help on how to be #plasticfree, especially in daily groceries! Thanks! #Durham#UK#pfjuk
