The Plateau Peace Practitioners Network (PPPN) is appalled by the senseless and brutal attack on innocent students and residents of Mangu and Bokkos Local Government Areas (LGAs) on April 18 and 19, 2024. According to police reports, 13 lives were lost in the attack.

These are not interesting times for us in Plateau

state, where the state has been in the news for the wrong reasons, it is either over 200 people killed in Mangu, Bokkos, barki Ladi etc or the news of a humanitarian crisis in the state as a result of attacks.

Like the above circumstances that have put the state in a

3. We appreciate the action of the resident electoral commissioner in the state for swift action about the investigation of the Electoral Officer(EO), we do not just seek investigation but arrest and persecution to serve as

1. Elections be extended to areas where materials and officers were not sent in order to give every voter the opportunity to vote.

2. Adequate deployment of security personnel to flash point communities to avert any breakdown of law and order thereby threatening the lives of

, the 16 POs that elections could not hold would be provided materials for elections on the 4 which is today, we are shocked that As at 3:00pm today, materials have not arrived at some of those polling units.

a result of the missing 14 BVAS machines was again made to handle the rerun election at the same place which makes it difficult to understand if there are some intentions to create tension and crisis in the state.

Except for deliberateness in creating chaos, we do not understand why:

1. There will be shortages of materials in an election that was prepared for after the court rulling.
2. The same electoral Officer that created tension in the state during the 2023 general elections as

helpless situation. We commend electorates and citizens for their Peaceful conduct yesterday despite late arrival of election materials, insufficient ballot papers especially for the House of Representatives and non-provision of voting aid for the physical challenge.
