Two SUNY Plattsburgh History majors, Redia Spada and Sagan Martin, were awarded the Feinberg Library Undergraduate Research Prize. Redia took the prize for her honors thesis on evangelical Protestantism in Guatemala, and Sagan for his essay on Russia’s October Revolution.

Jordan Baer, #SUNYplattsburgh alum, now completing a Master’s Degree at the University of Maryland Baltimore, will be hosting a lunch for current History Majors and Minors. It will take place at noon on December 1st in Room 155 of Hudson Hall. All are welcome to attend.

A mysterious figure appeared at today’s #SUNYplattsburgh History Club meeting to hear about Professors’ Spring 2024 course offerings...Turns out it was professor Vincent Carey dressed as the Grim Reaper to advertise his course on the Black Death. This caught students’ attention!

Professor Mark Richard of #SUNYplattsburgh will be giving a talk from his new book, “Creating a Catholic Community: French Canadians and Irish Immigrants in Plattsburgh in the 1850s and 1860s”. It will be held in Room 101 of Champlain Valley Hall at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.

#SUNYplattsburgh History Department has just undergone a periodic external evaluation which involved an extensive self-study and a visit by historians from similar departments. We thank Dr. Kristin Bayer (Marist College) and Dr. Justin Behrend (SUNY Geneseo) for their visit.
