Passionate about automating money and turning relationships with money positive. I can teach you about personal finance, but I can't play the game for you.
2020 Writing Goal: Review and track every single dollar that we spend on our wedding using @mint. Write posts about the final costs including every single item.
Each item would include any savings and a side note about how we got it.
I've been inactive for quite awhile, wedding plans and contingencies have taken over the last month. Excited to share my experience with wedding insurance over the next few months.
Sometimes I'm too much of a pessimist! I went forward.
If you find yourself generally unaffected by this pandemic, support your communities anyway you can! Wishing the best to the @uiowa students needing help these next few months.
How do you ensure your donations get to the right people?
I would like to donate to struggling students from my old university. The university has started a student life emergency fund, but I have a general mistrust of mismanagement of donations like this.
Have six months of expenses in cash reserve for a safety-net. Also, do not do this if you have any upcoming big expenses like a cross-country move or wedding.
The last thing you want to do is overextend and have to live on emergency credit. (2/2)
A family member asked me yesterday "should I increase my contributions to purchase more stocks/index funds at these lower prices?"
My answer....? It depends! Generally yes if you have extra cash-flow but... (1/2)
I once accidentally left my car running with the keys in the ignition for an entire dinner at Olive Garden. It was unlocked. Nobody bothered with it.
RIP orange box.
@ptmoney I wish good health on everyone the next few months, but I have been hoping for the market to go down since I started investing real money.
I want to invest on sale for 30+ years of growth! I often feel guilty for thinking this knowing many need a healthy market in retirement.
Finished a bit on my ideas for satire on personal finance. Send some feedback and I will keep going on this!

I am not sure how many @GaryGulman fans we have in the PF community, but I dug this up today and it is still gold.
"How much money would Bill Gates have to find in his pocket to give us the same satisfaction as finding a $20 in an old coat?"

@reachingforfi "The Budget-Savvy Wedding Planner & Organizer" has been a great resource for us. It has a great timeline checklist. What to do 8-10 months out, 6-8 months out, etc.
You can also find our wedding budget on my blog!

Congratulations and happy planning!
@ValuistBlog Thanks for your input! The main point behind all the jokes would be to drive home two points:
1. Managing your finances doesn't have to bring about negative emotion.
2. What works for some is not applicable to others. Personal finance is personal.
Thinking about writing a satirical personal finance post about going to the extremes of personal finance recommendations. Would that be worth reading?
I've wrote a bit, but it feels like "too much." Here is an example...
"1. Buy a house and rent it out. Live on the street until the house is paid for. This is called house hacking.
2. Walk to work. Bikes are too expensive. This should be easy because you can live right across the street. "
The most valuable asset I have in my path to building generational wealth?
Easy answer...
MY WIFE👰
This game is tooooo easy when you have a spouse who is equally committed to building an empire with you.
Anyone who belittles or puts down their significant other is a chump.
@Flexcents This is a tough one to swallow for me... Paying for a wedding is an incredibly emotional expense.
Spend on what matters. Cut what doesn't. Pay Cash.
We are 16% below that average (still a lot I know) and will certainly have hindsight corrections where we could've cut more.
@MelDMann I would keep working, but not for money. I would spend more time in martial arts, blog more, volunteer, and work towards becoming a certified financial planner.
