🇮🇳🇺🇸 India–USA Plastics Trade: Opportunities & Challenges
The Consulate General of India, Houston, jointly with The Plastics Export Promotion Council (PLEXCONCIL) and in association with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH), successfully organised a webinar on “Navigating Growth: Opportunities & Challenges in India–USA Plastics Trade” on 7 October 2026.
The webinar brought together industry stakeholders, exporters and trade professionals from India and the United States for an engaging discussion on emerging opportunities, evolving market dynamics, trade facilitation, market access and challenges in the plastics sector.
In his inaugural address, Shri D. C. Manjunath, Consul General of India, Houston, highlighted the growing potential of India–USA trade in plastics, underscoring the importance of strengthening bilateral trade and expanding market opportunities for Indian exporters.
Shri Lalit Agrawal, Regional Chairman, PLEXCONCIL, delivered the welcome address and moderated the session.
A presentation on the India–US Trade Facilitation Portal was made, highlighting its role in facilitating access to trade-related information and supporting businesses in exploring opportunities in the US market.
Shri Sribash Dasmohapatra, Executive Director, PLEXCONCIL, shared valuable insights on India–USA plastics trade, emerging opportunities and the evolving global trade landscape.
The webinar also featured an interactive session between US participants and Indian plastics exporters and processors, facilitating an exchange of views on strengthening bilateral trade, addressing market challenges and expanding business opportunities.
The Consulate General of India, Houston remains committed to promoting stronger trade and commercial linkages between India and the United States and facilitating greater market opportunities for Indian businesses.

At the India–EFTA Prosperity Summit 2026, discussions focused on taking forward the India–EFTA economic partnership through investment, sectoral cooperation and stronger business-to-business linkages.
The first year of TEPA has provided a basis for deeper engagement. The emphasis on investment announcements, exporter outreach and focused government-to-business engagement is important for translating the opportunities under the Agreement into greater commercial engagement between India and the EFTA countries.
Looking ahead, the focus will remain on deepening these linkages and enabling businesses on both sides to fully leverage the opportunities under TEPA.
