Emotional intelligence and agility are important competencies for successful leadership. When noticing and naming your emotions, it’s important to get as accurate as you can so you can respond and regulate with positive and productive behaviors. #leadership #emotionalintelligence

Happy Weekend! 💕

Top performers know that a key component of effective training and preparation includes intentional rest and recovery.

What are you doing this weekend to prepare yourself for top performance next week?

Tuesday Tip ✨

Communication is what typically makes or breaks partnerships and teams.

People often talk around what they are truly thinking and feeling or talk through their body language and silence.

Listen to all forms of communication, not just the words spoken aloud.

Monday Motivation ✨

Everyone has gifts to offer the world and to help them achieve their goals. Sometimes that greatness gets hidden by the other messy stuff that also exists.

Take time to see the greatness in ourselves and others this week and give it space to shine bright!

Tuesday Tips ✨

Meet for a purpose not just to have a date on calendar.

Share authentically with goal of connection and not just to be heard.

Focus on how the work is done and the product will be a result of that process.

Show up consistently so others know what to expect.

Monday Motivation 💪🏼

Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone this week and expand your opportunity for learning and growth.

How are you planning to challenge your limits this week?

Wednesday Wisdom 💡

Breathe and Be.

Do not let your worries about what may or may not happen in the future get in the way of enjoying all the wonderful things happening around you right now.

Breathe and Be in the present long enough to let all that goodness flow through you.

Beginnings matter. How we start each day and each week matter.

Make choices today, and every day, that allow you to take full advantage of the opportunities that present themselves.

The problem with “networking” is not talking to strangers but rather making small talk with strangers—a subtle but crucial difference.

Most people don’t like small talk. Many people dread it. But most people dearly want to connect.

So the question is: how do you find the elusive portal to deep talk? I have seven answers.

Here’s the first one:

1. Focus on what you’re doing—not what you’re getting, or even giving. You’ve probably heard that networking is about giving, not taking. This is a terrific sentiment, but it’s given rise to a networking culture of people asking each other “how can I help you?” in a thinly disguised attempt to ask “how can you help me?” So instead, focus on being sincere. Ask yourself: What are you doing in this world? How does your work relate to your life path? How do the relationships you make at work—and at this very networking event—relate to that path? If you operate from this center, people will feel it. They will naturally want to help you, and you will instinctively look to help them.

Find out the other six answers, in today's Kindred Letters: my newsletter for 475,000+ kindred spirits who prefer quiet to loud, depth to superficiality, and sensitivity to cool.

Emotions can point us in the direction of what we care about most.

Rather than letting an emotion spiral out of control, take a deep breath and pause. Consider what the emotion is trying to tell you and identify one small way you can move toward that value in the moment.

Life rewards action, not intelligence.

Many brilliant people talk themselves out of getting started, and being smart doesn't help very much without the courage to act.

You can't win if you're not in the game.

✨ Follow Friday ✨

The people you surround yourself with as a learner and leader matter.

You are influenced by what you read, hear, see and experience, so it’s important to consume wisely.

Who are you following so we can add them to our list of great accounts?

Thankful Thursday 🙏🏼

Sharing gratitude is an important component for successful and joyful leadership.

Take time to appreciate the people who influence and impact your journey and the experiences you get to have each day.

Who and what are you thankful for today?

Wednesday Wisdom 💡

Be willing to explore and take risks in order to discover new ideas and opportunities.

If you keep doing the same the things, the same way, you will keep having the same results.

Get lost in the beauty and wonder of exploration.

Tuesday Tip ✨

It’s okay to take a break. Taking regular breaks will increase your productivity and energy and decrease your stress.

Your mind and body need these moments to disconnect from technology and detach from the work to recharge and refocus.

Monday Motivation 🙌🏼

A mission is an important goal or purpose that is accompanied by a strong conviction.

Sunday is a great time for self-care as you prepare for the week ahead. Rest your mind and body. 💕

What is your favorite self-care routine?

What others say doesn't directly affect your emotions. Between their words and your feelings is your interpretation of their intention.

Agency lies in the space between stimulus and response.

A sign of emotional intelligence is recognizing your power to change your assumptions.
