The UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine was the most important item on the agenda for Deputy PM, FM @sikorskiradek on the third day of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

In his speech, the Foreign Minister spoke not only about Russia's aggression against Ukraine, but also about acts of sabotage in other European countries.

During my visit to County Donegal (paired with Poland during the Irish Presidency of the EU), I had the pleasure of meeting the Bishop of Raphoe, the Most Reverend Niall Coll, the Sisters of Merciful Jesus from Poland working in Letterkenny, and a group of Polish pilgrims.

Inisowiacy, a Polish-Irish folk group, gave a wonderful performance during Culture Night in Letterkenny. County Donegal is paired with Poland as part of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU. It was a great opportunity to bring Polish culture closer to the Irish audience.

17 September 1939 | The Soviet Union invaded Poland, assisting the Germans, as agreed in the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact & its secret protocol that divided Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland & Romania into German and Soviet "spheres of influence."

The text of the secret protocol from 23 August 1939:

1. In the event of a territorial and political rearrangement in the areas belonging to the Baltic States (Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), the northern boundary of Lithuania shall represent the boundary of the spheres of influence of Germany and U.S.S.R. In this connection the interest of Lithuania in the Vilnius area is recognized by each party.

2. In the event of a territorial and political rearrangement of the areas belonging to the Polish state, the spheres of influence of Germany and the U.S.S.R. shall be bounded approximately by the line of the rivers Narev, Vistula and San. The question of whether the interests of both parties make desirable the maintenance of an independent Polish state and how such a state should be bounded can only be definitely determined in the course of further political developments. In any event both governments will resolve this question by means of a friendly agreement.

3. With regard to Southeastern Europe attention is called by the Soviet side to its interest in Bessarabia. The German side declares its complete political disinterest in these areas.

4. This protocol shall be treated by both parties as strictly secret.
