Magasela Mzobe, this is precisely the kind of selective political morality that has alienated millions of South Africans from electoral politics.
Yes, Mike Mabuyakhulu was accused of corruption. I was deeply disappointed when he was charged, and I said so. But in the North Sea Jazz case the State presented its evidence and the High Court discharged and acquitted him in terms of section 174 because there was insufficient evidence upon which a reasonable court could convict him.
Yet you casually respond that he is “one of those with skeletons in his closet”.
Have you looked around your own political home?
MKP is led by Jacob Zuma, whose arms-deal criminal case has dragged on for decades through litigation that courts themselves have described in terms of a “Stalingrad” strategy.
Tony Yengeni, now one of MKP’s Deputy Presidents, was convicted of fraud. That is not an allegation or an adverse political opinion. It is a criminal conviction.
John Hlophe served until recently as an MKP Deputy President and remains a prominent parliamentary figure. He became the first judge in democratic South Africa to be removed from judicial office by Parliament after being found guilty of gross misconduct arising from his improper attempt to influence Constitutional Court judges in a matter involving Jacob Zuma.
Brian Molefe and Siyabonga Gama are not ordinary MKP members. Molefe occupies senior leadership in the party and Gama sits in Parliament for MKP and serves as a whip. Both are accused in the Transnet locomotive corruption case arising from transactions scrutinised during the state-capture era. They have not been convicted and are entitled to the presumption of innocence.
Lucky Montana was sent to Parliament by MKP after featuring prominently in the Zondo Commission’s findings concerning PRASA. He subsequently resigned from Parliament, although he said he remained an MKP member.
Zandile Gumede, who was required to step aside from ANC responsibilities while facing the Durban Solid Waste corruption prosecution, has now been embraced into MKP’s KZN leadership. She has pleaded not guilty and, like everybody else, is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
And then there is Nathi Nhleko, who became MKP National Chairperson, the former Police Minister forever associated with telling South Africans that the swimming pool at Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla private residence was a “fire pool”, amid the controversy over roughly R246 million in public expenditure on the Nkandla project.
This is not about one or two individuals. MKP has assembled within its political and parliamentary ranks an extraordinary concentration of figures associated in very different legal circumstances with the controversies, findings, prosecutions and scandals of the state-capture era.
Some were convicted. Some were subjected to adverse institutional findings. Some are presently before the courts and must be presumed innocent. Those distinctions matter.
But that is precisely the point, Magasela.
How can an allegation against Mabuyakhulu remain a permanent “skeleton” even after a court acquitted him, while convictions, impeachment for gross misconduct, Zondo findings and pending corruption prosecutions apparently cease to disqualify people once they find a political home in MKP?
This selective morality is poisoning our politics. Every faction discovers the presumption of innocence when one of its own enters the dock and rediscovers righteous indignation when an opponent is accused.
Millions of South Africans have simply stopped believing us.
If we want them back, there can be no ANC morality, MKP morality, EFF morality or DA morality. There must be one standard of public ethics, accountability and justice whether the person involved is our friend, family, our comrade or our political opponent.

You recently threw a fit because South Africa's Deputy President went on a working visit to China. Yesterday Trump welcomed Xi Jinping on the tarmac and the White House put on an unusually large military display. It is a state visit nogal!
Your president went personally, with all honors to receive Xi Jinping. Something that Xi Jinping didn't do for him when he was visiting!
In addition; Trump has invited Putin to the G20, much to the consternation of US allies.
Do you have anything to say. I guess not. You are a bully and a hypocrite. The Unipolar moment is over. Your own country has been instrumental in undoing it. There is no turning back. Nobody is prepared to listen to bullies on the global stage.
I have no statement. You are expecting me to respond to media framing on an ongoing discussion. The AdHoc Committee Report is discussed in sections and we were on the issue discussing General Masemola. For your benefit though and those who are refusing to read and the media committed to a particular narrative here are extracts from the ANC submission. Kindly note the report is still being considered by the committee, these are merely submissions of the ANC and not the Committee report

His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa is here to stay
Somebody please tell General Khan and Carim to just surrender because January 2027 is very very very far to play hide and seek
Us as ANC members we must write to the Party NEC and recommend President Ramaphosa for 3rd term
I've never seen a President who cleans corruption and criminality like President Ramaphosa
