@CFBKings If you look at the weekend in 2004 when Marshall beat a #6 K-State the MAC also had 2 other teams get Power conference victories in the same day. This 2022 weekend was very similar ironically including Marshall both times.

@CharlesSho93891 @BudElliott3 This is partially correct. He signed with ND got in a fight in HS over some racial issues. Went to FSU after RS and got in trouble for weed. MU was moving up to 1a and he could play immediately. So, he had a relationship with coach who tried to get him to UF and came to MU.

@TheHerdsHeadset The plane crash is a tough subject for me personally. You don’t wish any institution to be known for something like that because of the human toll that it costs to achieve it. However, the overall response is inspirational and worth celebrating.

@TheHerdsHeadset I think it was a little more nuanced response than that. As a student at the time I remember several mentions of the potential for positive impact on the university due to the movie by the administration. They geared branding at the time and even leaned in on the “We are” slogan.

@TheHerdsHeadset I think the movie has held up well over the years and MU has continued to grow in many ways. They do an excellent of remembering the tragedy but not to the point of exploitation which I think fans always need to keep in mind. Don’t exploit the tragedy for recognition.

@TheHerdsHeadset However, given the performance of the Fball team especially on national TV at the time. They had a 5-7 season in 06’ competitive but not magical plus the movie did decent in box office. It was more of a nice bump for the university versus transformational like people had hoped.

@ThunderCast_Pod Of that list I would not mind seeing OU, Miami, Toledo, ECU, and Louisville in a regular rotation. Kent State, BGSU, and WMU rather see 1-1’s if the others aren’t available. Just don’t move the needle from an interest standpoint.
