Farmers fear that they will lose their livelihood and income, resulting in further poverty and food insecurity.
STRG calls to uphold farmers' right to land, livelihood, and food security through defending agricultural lands from land grabbing and land conversion.
ATM: PNFSP joined KMP, UMANE, NECBHP, MASIPAG and other advocates in the launching of the Save the Rice Granary (STRG) campaign at NEUST, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
Halfway to the event, a farmer in Hacienda Luisita shared her experience of companies' method of land grabbing by bulldozing farmers' crops and by threatening their lives. Companies plan to convert agricultural lands into Terra solar farms and other profitable projects.
Big local and foreign companies turn this land into commercial use like residential areas, renewable projects, and expressways among others. Such conversions adversely affect farmers and their livelihoods, which are centered on rice production, thus leading to food insecurity.
PNFSP is one of the conveners of this campaign, which aims to protect the farmers, their livelihood, and food security by advocating to stop the rampant land conversion of massive agricultural lands in Central Luzon.
He is an alleged indirect co-perpetrator of "War on Drugs" implemented under former president Rodrigo Duterte, that killed an estimated 30,000 victims.

Widespread land grabbing of ancestral lands, rampant militarization, and the government's red-tagging of development workers were also mentioned as causes of IPs' loss of cultural identity.
ICYMI: The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) and PNFSP's monthly Kapihan and Kamustahan was held last April 13, where they discussed the challenges of achieving food security.
Highlighted in the discussion was the Indigenous Peoples’ cultural heritage, which was slowly dying due to the loss of ancestral land brought about by the government’s lengthy and tedious process of land titling, as well as big corporations’ development aggression.
The following day, April 14, PNFSP participated in CHR’s CSOs consultation on the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) Concluding Observations.
The primary challenge identified was the limited or no space in the urban setting to plant their crops, which could have been the urban gardeners’ source of food and income. It was compounded by the lack of government support for urban gardening.
